The picture’s division into a golden section is achieved via the right column of the rose arch, the left half of which accentuates the proximity and the compactness embodied in the picture, while the right part allows a view into the vast landscape. One of the unusual figurations is the path with two curvilinear branch-offs, a (counter-) variant of the “patte d’oie” that does not allow any wandering into the distance but keeps your attention fixed on the immediate sur- roundings.
