Meist ist die Kraft und Dynamik des Bogenschießens ein bildbestimmendes Element – so auch hier bei Rainer Fetting. Die fremdartig wirkende Figur des unbekleideten Bogenschützen in Blau ruft vielfältige Assoziationen hervor, vom exotisch Fremden über den „edlen Wilden“ bis hin zum Kampf der Zivilisationen. Bemerkenswert ist, dass der Bogen durch das Blau als Teil des Schützen definiert wird und in der großen ro- ten Sonne im Hintergrund wohl das Schicksal des Untergangs der indianischen Kultur ange- sprochen wird. Indian 2 The archer is a theme in painting with a long his- tory. The power and dynamism of archery is the most determinant element in the picture, as it is with Fetting. The strange looking figure of the un- clothed archer in blue calls up many associations of exotic strangers via the “noble savage” and all the way to the clash of civilizations. What is re- markable is that the bow is also blue and is thus defined as part of the archer. And the downfall of the Indian culture is probably suggested by the great red sun in the background.
