At Art Karlsruhe 2026, from February 5 to 8, we will be presenting a concentrated, diverse selection of classical modern and contemporary art at our booth H1 B06. Three curatorial focal points characterize the exhibition stand—independent, equal, and in dialogue with each other. At the center of the exhibition is an extensive show of works by Otto Piene and Christine Jackob-Marks, based on the current exhibition “KOSMOS.” Otto Piene, co-founder of the ZERO group, opens up painting into space: light, fire, smoke, and movement become carriers of a cosmic energy that takes the image beyond the material. His works understand the cosmos as a living order, as the “breath of light.”

KOSMOS – Otto Piene & Christine Jackob-Marks

In dialogue with this, Christine Jackob-Marks unfolds a quiet, concentrated visual world. Her painting moves between memory and perception, between inner movement and quiet presence. Color and light become resonant spaces in which time and experience become tangible. Together, both positions open up a multi-layered cosmos between physical power and contemplative depth.

The Weimar Era – Selected Positions of Modernism

The presentation is complemented by selected works from the anniversary exhibition “The Weimar Era,” which highlights one of the most productive and contradictory phases of modernism. Works by Otto Dix, George Grosz, Otto Mueller, DODO, Lyonel Feininger, Erich Heckel, Oskar Schlemmer, Kurt Schwitters, Lesser Ury, and other artists show the Weimar Republic as an artistic laboratory between Expressionism, New Objectivity, Dada, and the avant-garde. Social upheaval, urban dynamism, and a new, precise view of people and reality converge here to form a visual language of astonishing relevance.

Present and Figuration – Feodora Hohenlohe

The presentation of works by painter Feodora Hohenlohe forms a calm, sensual counterpoint. Her still lifes, floral motifs, and figurative scenes are characterized by clear forms, crystalline light, and poetic restraint. Her painting continues the tradition of New Objectivity – not as a throwback, but as a contemporary transformation. The result is images of quiet intensity that transform the representational into a timeless presence and add a subtle echo of the present to historical positions.
