Goudji
Biography
After his first successes in Moscow, Goudji Amachoukelis (* 1941) began his international career in 1978 when he moved to Paris and accepted French citizenship. For over forty years the artist has been creating inspiring silver sculptures for the most important institutions of the Paris Salon International, for the Musée des arts décoratifs de Paris and for the treasury of the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris. Already in the former Soviet Union, Goudji learned to skillfully forge iron and steel. This knowledge, which increasingly inspired him to learn the art of silversmithing in Paris, is still used today by the sculptor to create his own special tools for creating the work.
In addition to gold, precious and semi-precious stones, silver, or even vermeil, which was subsequently coated with gold, are Goudji's preferred materials for the creation of his unique figurative sculptures and imaginative objects. Every work that is presented to the “Bureau de la Garantie de Paris” before publication speaks to the rhythm of traditional, individual technology and innovative creativity. Mythical animals that seem to spring directly from Goudji's dreams and creatures with mythical connotations cavort in his oeuvre and together develop a unique arrangement of mythological vision and contemporary art. Goudji's exclusive works have also been exhibited in important museums in Paris, London, New York and Tokyo and are a central part of the liturgical collection of Pope John Paul II 'honneur' appointed by President Nicolas Sarkozy.
I dream of objects without age, of confusing images from an indefinite period of time that have been imprinted on my memory, and I marvel with admiration at the beauty that spirituality creates in art. A world of puzzles, symbols, legends and myths ...
