Biography

The artist was born near Stuttgart in 1968. At the age of 15 she bought her first SLR camera. Through photography she finds a medium to sustainably transport content and values. Since she began her studies in Rosenheim in 1983, the camera has been her constant companion on many intercontinental trips. Since 2001, several visits to the Pityuse island of Ibiza have inspired the artist to engage artistically with this magical place. “IBIZA – Offside is Everywhere” focuses on historical and mysterious places on the mystical island that have been forgotten for decades. History and increasing urbanization merge in the photographs; By visualizing reality, they create a direct connection between the past and current contrasts. The photographs question the mysticism of the genius loci and decipher unique atmospheres. Christine Schindler describes the fascination of these places as follows: “The intense sunlight increases the remaining color, which for me is synonymous with life, and creates an attractive tension of morbid aesthetics.” In her photographs, the artist succeeds in condensing scenes of reality and in them to create an exciting contrast. Bizarre situations exaggerate and intensify, they irritate the attentive viewer and offer an unreal, sometimes incomprehensible contrast.

The result is photographic works of particular intensity, images that span epochs and places, between the transience of human creativity and the omnipotence of nature.
