Biografie

Emma Helle’s works show a dramatic abundance. They point out a similarity between the postmodern and the baroque. Helle respects the fineries of wood and ceramics, but also cherishes the liberty to experiment with and to carnivalize the possibilities these materials open up.

The embellished characters are each unique and expressive, and exuding an air of opulence, mischievousness and confidence. Freed from their previous secondary status, they are seemingly reveling in the spotlight. The chosen medium itself which the artist has consistently worked with for years, also bears a certain significance.
