23 »Die Kunst ist nichts anderes als das Licht der Natur« Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749–1832) Es gibt kaum ein anderes Element, welches das Leben auf unserem Planeten so nachhaltig beeinflusst, wie das Licht. Licht  sprengt unsere Vorstellungskraft von Zeit und Raum. Es öffnet uns den Blick in die Vergangenheit und in Räume unseres Universums, die sich unseren physiologischen Wahrnehmungsmöglichkeiten entzie- hen. Ohne Licht, Brechung und Reflexion lebten wir in einer farblosen und damit konturlosen Welt. Farben und Schatten sind Erscheinungen, die erst durch Licht sichtbar und wahrnehmbar werden: Mich interessieren die Prozesse, die diese Illusionen zum Vorschein bringen und ich versuche dafür in der Kunst Formen zu finden, die das Licht in seiner Komplexität sichtbar machen. »Art is nothing more than the light of nature« Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749–1832) Hardly any element influences life on our planet as emphatically as light. Light blasts open our concepts of time and space. It reveals to us a view into the past and into spaces of our universe which evade our physiological capabilities of perception. Without light, refraction and reflection we would be living in a colourless, and there- fore shapeless world. Colours and shadows are phenomena that remain invisible and imperceptible without light: I am interested in the processes that uncover those illusions, and I attempt to find artistic forms that visualize light with all its complexity.
